Jean F. Simpson, M.D.
Dr. Jean F. Simpson is a native of Columbus, Georgia and graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1983. Following a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, she served as surgical pathology fellow under Dr. David L. Page. After practicing surgical pathology for six years at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, California, she returned to Vanderbilt in 1997, where she served as Director of Anatomic Pathology for eight years, and was Professor of Pathology until 2013. Dr. Simpson is currently Adjunct Professor of Pathology at the University of South Alabama, Mobile, AL, and President of Breast Pathology Consultants, Inc. Dr. Simpson has more than 20 years experience as a breast pathologist. She is Chair of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Cancer Committee, Lead Pathologist for the Breast Cancer Review Panel, a member of the Board of Directors for the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, and a charter member of the CAP Advanced Practical Pathology Program for Multidisciplinary Breast Pathology. Dr. Simpson was a member of the Consensus Conference for WHO Classification of Breast Tumours, in Lyon, France in September 2011.
Dr. Simpson has seen more than 30,000 breast cases in consultation, and has mentored more than 40 physicians-in-training in advanced diagnostic breast pathology. David L. Page, M.D.
Dr. David L. Page retired as Professor of Pathology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2011, after a long and illustrious career. Dr. Page is internationally known for his studies of premalignant breast disease and breast cancer and has been a major force in Breast Pathology for more than a generation. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Page served as Chair of the Breast Pathology Committee of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG), the American Joint Commission on Cancer (AJCC), and the Cancer Committee of the College of American Pathology. He is the editor of Diagnostic Histopathology of the Breast , a widely used textbok of breast pathology as well as associate editor of a multidisciplinary text book, The Breast: A Comprehensive Textbook.
